WATCH: Meet the London Humanist Choir

The London Humanist Choir offers a space for non-religious singers to learn new songs, meet like-minded people, and to perform at various events across the UK.

It is a non-auditioned choir, meaning anyone who aligns with the values of Humanism can join. The choir meets every Tuesday evening at the Doreen Bazell Hall, a community centre in North West London, to learn and practise a variety of songs.

According to the organisation Humanists UK, Humanists are usually people who follow scientific understandings of the universe rather than supernatural ones, make ethical decisions based on empathy for humans and other living creatures, and — given that they do not believe in an afterlife — emphasise the importance of seeking happiness in this present life.

Members say the choir has provided them with a strong sense of community.
