Police secure central London for Stop Trump Coalition march

More than 1,600 police officers were present at the Stop Trump Coalition march in central London.

The rally started at 2pm by the BBC’s New Broadcasting House. Officers from the Metropolitan Police were joined by colleagues from Greater Manchester and Wales.

Police liaison officers were scattered around the route to manage communications between protesters and local authorities.

Officers from the Territorial Support Group, the public order policing unit of the Metropolitan Police, arrived in Piccadilly Circus at 3.30pm and guided protesters along the prescribed route.

Police on horses also marched alongside the protest route.

Throughout the day, @metpoliceuk posted updated security measures and timings on X.

The Met estimated up to 5,000 people were at the rally in Parliament Square, which was due to finish at 7pm.
