Non-League preview: Sutton United praying for a change in fortunes after signing former Saints striker

Sutton United manager Paul Doswell has signed former Southampton trainee Jamie White in a bid to bolster Sutton’s attacking options ahead of their trip to Bromley.

White, who signed for the club on his 25th birthday, was released by Bristol Rovers earlier this week and will be available for Saturday’s clash.

Sutton are 16th in the Vanarama Conference South table and winless in their past four league matches since a 1-0 away victory over Farnborough in October.

Of White, Doswell said: “He’s a proven goalscorer at this level and his willingness to come was so refreshing.”

Meanwhile, in the Ryman Premier, seventh-placed Met Police entertain high-flying FA Cup giant-killers Maidstone United and hope to continue this season’s impressive undefeated home record.

Ryman South outfit Tooting & Mitcham travel to fourth-placed Merstham hoping to close the four-point gap between the sides.

Carshalton Athletic take a trip to the seaside this weekend playing away at Herne Bay with both teams locked on 30 points and only goal difference separating them in the table.

Relegation candidates Walton Casuals go to Hastings United while Walton & Hersham take on Whitstable Town, aiming for their fourth consecutive win and to close the gap to their visitors to a point.

Matt Howard’s Corinthian Casuals make the 56-mile trip to Sittingbourne, knowing that another victory will take them above their weekend opponents.

Combined Counties side Raynes Park Vale have a home fixture against Ashford Town (Middlesex) while Colliers Wood United travel to lower league Pagham in the FA Vase.
