CCTV appeal to find man who grabbed and kissed woman, 91, in ‘bizarre’ Notting Hill Gate Waitrose attack

A man who grabbed a 91-year-old woman and kissed her several times on the cheek is being hunted by Kensington and Chelsea detectives.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man who they want to speak to in connection with the ‘frightening’ assault on an elderly woman in Waitrose last June.

On June 28 at around 6pm the victim was shopping inside the Notting Hill Gate branch.

As she made her way to leave the store, the suspect approached her and gripped her around the waist.

He then went on to kiss her a number of times on her cheek – the man then ran off towards Holland Park.

The suspect is described as white man of medium build and approximately 40 to 50 years old. At the time of the incident he was wearing a chequered shirt and blue jeans.

Detective Constable Grant McPherson from Kensington and Chelsea CID said: “The suspect’s bizarre behaviour left an elderly woman frightened and bewildered and I urge anyone who may recognise him to contact the police.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Grant McPherson on 0208 246 0186 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
