A new multi-level entertainment venue designed for all ages is set to open in south west London next month.
Kingston will welcome an expansion of its entertainment landscape on 12 December, with the opening of Urban Fun on Clarence Street.
Through a £4 million asset, Urban Fun aims to appeal to a wide range of tastes with Funbox Entertainment investing the funds to bring the vision to life.
Funbox Entertainment managing director Matthew Deith said: “There’s something here for everybody, whether it is family, grandparents taking their grandkids, groups of friends, or adults celebrating birthdays.
“I would say that there’s no other place in England where you can have so many activities under one roof.”
Situated in ‘an iconic building’, that used to be a Wilko, the venue will include a private karaoke suite for 12 people, and offer other activities such as Brunswick duck-pin bowling, augmented reality darts and neo shuffleboard.
Urban Fun will unveil Europe’s first ICEE slush rush machine, a game-style beverage maker, brought straight from the United States.
Through their digital redemption system Gamergreen, players will win digital tickets and have prizes delivered straight to their homes via Amazon Prime, making it a world-first, according to Funbox Entertaiment.
Matthew said: “They’re redeeming the tickets for what they want online, it might be a mountain bike, or it might be whatever they choose to buy — we have 1,200 prizes in our store.”
The entertainment venue will be complemented by a restaurant, which will offer a diverse menu.
Moreover, two bars will serve a range of drinks, including festive Christmas cocktails, kid-friendly mocktails, and options for those who prefer not to drink alcohol.
The company said Urban Fun can host corporate parties and team-building events, accommodating up to 300 guests, and provides a space for group activities and social gatherings.
The managing director added: “Everyone’s looking for something different, and to have something where friends or staff are all having fun and they’re competing in competitions.”
In the words of Funbox Entertainment, Urban Fun aims to be a safe and welcoming space for families.
The company explained the trained staff will ensure that every experience is enjoyable, and families are encouraged to bring kids during the day.
Matthew said the project will create at least 25 jobs, and bring people into the town, while also benefiting other community businesses.
He said it is ‘a win-win for everybody’.
The managing director said the company intends to expand in the future, aiming to grow the Urban Fun brand.
He said: “I see that we obviously want to grow the Urban Fun brand. Kingston’s very important as our flagship, and we will be opening other Urban Fun venues in the UK — we have some locations in the pipeline that we’re negotiating.”
