Croydon Roller Derby to take on Dublin in wheely exciting double header

Croydon Roller Derby are set to go head-to-head with Dublin Roller Derby on the track in an exciting double header next month.

Croydon’s B team Vice Squad are set to take on Dublin’s C-Lions at The Dolphin Leisure Centre in Haywards Heath, followed by Croydon’s A team Riot Squad versus Dublin’s Beamies on Saturday, November 5.

The A team sit in 55th place in the European rankings, maintaining their title as London’s youngest roller derby league.

“This is the first time Croydon and Dublin have met on the track so it’s guaranteed to be a nail-biting game,” said team captain Emma Dyduch.

“It’s going to be a tough game but I am confident in my teammates and the hard work and dedication we have put in over the past year.”

Croydon Roller Derby are holding a recruitment day on Friday, November 18, so the game will offer a great opportunity for anyone to learn more about the full contact sport.

Debbie Wiles, Croydon Roller Derby head of recruitment, said: “It’s a great way to meet the league and some of our current rookies will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.

“By watching live roller derby you’re basically guaranteed to fall in love with this sport.”
