Pressure mounts on Mourinho as poll finds 70% of Chelsea fans disapprove of Carneiro treatment

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been under the spotlight for his treatment of first-team doctor Eva Carneiro and now it seems even Chelsea fans are turning against the ‘Special One’.

According to a new poll, 70% of Chelsea fans don’t approve of the treatment dished out to Carneiro during the recent fall-out following the Blues’ opening day draw with Swansea.

She and head physio Jon Fearn were demoted after rushing on to the pitch to treat a stricken Eden Hazard in the closing minutes of the 2-2 draw, leaving Chelsea with nine players as he went off the pitch for treatment and Thibaut Courtois had already been sent off.

A fuming Mourinho openly criticising his ‘naïve’ medical team and Carneiro was subsequently not part of the medical staff that travelled to the Etihad Stadium.

But the poll, commissioned by Football Addicts through their app Forza Football, asked 6,000 Chelsea fans from across Europe and the US if they approved of Mourinho’s treatment of Carneiro and they overwhelming sided with the doctor.

The manager gained 20% of support and 10% offered no answer.

The ongoing off-field problems have further added to Chelsea’s disappointing start to their Premier League defence that has seen them take one point from their opening two games.

After falling to a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at Manchester City last Sunday, Mourinho’s men already find themselves five points off the pace at the top of the table.
