England face Scotland as Netball World Cup schedule released

The full schedule for this year’s Netball World Cup in South Africa has been released, with England set to face Scotland in the first round.

Hosted in Cape Town, the World Cup is taking place from 28 July to 6 August and 16 teams, including the Vitality Roses, hosts South Africa world number ones Australia and 2019 winners New Zealand.

Each of the teams first three matches are in a round-robin style, after this who they place and how they progress in the competition is dependant on the outcomes from the first rounds.

England and Scotland have been drawn in Pool B alongside Malawi and Barbados for the first stage.

The Roses who finished third in the 2019 Netball World Cup will begin their campaign on Friday 28 July at 8pm local time facing Barbados, who currently are ranked 14th in the world.

The next day, England will face Malawi, who they beat 66-41 at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, at 6pm local time.

Then their final first round match against the Scottish Thistles will be on Sunday 30 July at 4pm local time.

Progression to the next steps of the Netball World Cup is dependent on the results of the opening stages and you can view the full competition schedule here.

Sky will broadcast all of the World Cup matches live and on demand, either on Sky Sports TV or Sky Sports YouTube.

In the latest rankings from World Netball the Vitality Roses remained third in the world, with only Australia and New Zealand above them.

The World Cup follows the completion of the UK Netball Superlegue (NSL) season, with the grand final being played on Sunday 11 June at 4:15pm in the Copper Box Arena, London.
