Carshalton Athletic fresh and fighting for Ryman Division One South opening game

Carshalton Athletic begin the new Ryman Division One South season with no fresh injury concerns this weekend as midfielder Sean O’Toole completes his return from an eight month lay-off.

The Robins, under new gaffer Peter Adeniyi, travel to Horsham this Saturday having completed a pre-season campaign which included wins over Kingstonian and Dulwich Hamlet.

And O’Toole, who has recovered from a torn abdomen to make five appearances during the last month, believes his new boss is slowly nurturing a squad that could go on to do big things this season.

“Peter knows a lot about the game and has worked alongside younger players during his time at Dulwich Hamlet,” O’Toole said.

“He has also added to the squad really well by bringing in good players who have gelled quickly with those who stayed from last season.”

Those new signings include former Corinthian Casuals midfielder Sekou Kaba and centre back pairing Jahmahl King and Kalvin Morath-Gibbs while, at the other end, forward Tommy Bradford will no doubt be looking to better his 24 goals of last season.

Carshalton last travelled to Gorings Mead two seasons ago and the pair played out a 0-0 stalemate but O’Toole claims he and his teammates want nothing but victory come the final whistle on Saturday.

“The pitch should be good for the first game of the season so we should be able to play our normal passing game,” he added.

“Hopefully I’ll play a part but it’s exciting to know we have forwards like Tommy, Ricky (Korboa) and Mickel (Miller) in the squad.

“Any one of them can hurt teams on their day and that’ll make us dangerous opposition to the rest of the league.”

Horsham vs Carshalton Athletic kicks-off  on Saturday, August 13 at 3pm.
