AFC Wimbledon look to Tubbs and Akinfenwa to pick up first win in five matches as they face York

York City v AFC Wimbledon @ Bootham Crescent

Saturday November 8 2014 @ 3pm

FA Cup first round

Wimbledon will be looking to pick up their first win in five matches as they travel to York in the FA Cup first round.

Both sides lost at this stage of the competition last year and will be looking to leave indifferent league form behind them.

After losing to Northampton last time the Dons have slipped to 17th in the table whilst York are 20th.

The Minstermen won at the weekend at Cheltenham but this was only their second win in ten games keeping them towards the bottom of League 2.

Neil Ardley’s men will be looking to their strikers Matt Tubbs and Adebayo Akinfenwa to provide the firepower necessary for victory.

Tubbs is the clubs top goal-scorer this season with nine but he has not scored since October 11th while Akinfenwa has only netted once in his last four appearances.

York’s hopes suffered a blow with the news that Diego De Girolamo has been recalled to parent club Sheffield United after scoring three goals in his last four games.

The home side will now be looking to Wesleigh Fletcher to provide their main goal threat and add to his three goals.

Wimbledon will have good memories of facing York in the completion after winning a televised replay at the same stage two years ago.

With the two sides evenly matched it will be a game both managers feel they can win and take the first step on an exciting cup run.
