Thunder in their heart? Streatham Redskins captain sets sights on beating Milton Keynes in weekend clash

Streatham Redskins Captain Joe Johnston says his team are confident ahead of their weekend game against Milton Keynes Thunder, despite losing to them in a previous clash.

The Redskins were beaten by the Thunder on the opening day of the season but they have since won three straight games to climb to third on the table.

And while Johnston is pleased with the team’s winning streak, he says they are not letting it get to their heads.

“Obviously three wins in a row does hell of a lot for confidence but there are bigger and harder challenges coming,” said Johnston.

“We are not getting carried away with what has happened so far.

“We have pretty high aspirations as a team so the games that we won we were almost half expecting to win.”

Johnston feels revenge is not part of the plan for him despite losing to the Thunder in an earlier match.

“People are looking for us to have a bit of retribution against the Thunder because they beat us in the first game but I don’t really see it like that,” he said.

“I think maybe the fans want revenge but for me it’s about getting the three points.

“They [MK Thunder] have improved a lot this year so if we can put in a good performance then that is obviously helpful.”
