Activist group, Intersectional Uprising, marched from Lambeth to Westminster on 17 January, in the name of greater safety for women across the UK.
The march was co-ordinated as a day of national action, with similar events happening across major UK cities, such as Manchester, Oxford and Brighton.
Despite there being a lower turnout than expected, Intersectional Uprising gathered in Archbishop’s Park in Lambeth and walked, accompanied by a police escort, towards Richmond Terrace, next to New Scotland Yard.
Other activist groups, such as Enough., Hassl, Together Against Sexism and Rihanna Speaks, joined the march and addressed the crowd at the end of the event.
Amy Watson, Founder of Hassl, said: “It’s really important to be here, not only for ourselves and for women in the UK, but women across the world who can’t use their voice in the same way, and don’t have that privilege.”
