Croydon BME forum has its say on the upcoming mayoral election

On the 5th of May Croydon residents will go to the polls for a historic vote as they participate in the borough’s first mayoral election.

They will be choosing Croydon’s first-ever directly elected mayor, as well as electing their councillors for the next four years.

Whoever is elected will have to address a range of issues including crime, a lack of social housing and the council’s poor financial management, which lead to them effectively declaring bankruptcy in 2020.

The Croydon BME forum, which is a youth outreach group operating in the borough, held a hustings event for all the mayoral election candidates and members of the public earlier this month.
