London wins more than any other region at the Tes Schools Awards 2025

London schools won more than any other region at Tes Schools Awards 2025 with triumphs in five categories.

The awards recognise teachers, schools and trusts for excellence from UK state and independent schools, across early years, primary and secondary.

It was schools from London which dominated though, ahead of four each from the West Midlands and North West, with The Harris Federation, an education charity led by teachers operating 55 schools in London and Essex, claiming Trust of the Year.

Harris Federation CEO Sir Dan Moynihan said: “We’re incredibly proud to be recognised for this award.

“It reflects the hard work of classroom staff, teams, and leaders who support each other, share what works, and stick to our values.”

The schools have improved opportunities for many pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and are widely recognised as a force for social mobility.

The Harris Trust also runs a programme which trains thousands of teachers every year.

Abingdon House School, an independent special educational needs school based in Kensington, Marleybone and Purley, won Best Use of Technology.

Abingdon House’s head of digital education, training and IT Peter Reeves said: “Our targeted approach to technology is transforming engagement in learning, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of that change.

“This award celebrates the innovation and dedication of our entire team.”

The other London winners included Kingsdale Foundation School head of PE William McWhirter, who won Subject Lead of the Year in the secondary school category.

Oasis Academy South Bank won Secondary School of the Year, and Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery won Independent Prep School of the Year.

Tes CEO Rod Williams said: “A special congratulations to all the winners and finalists at this year’s Tes Schools Awards.

“The remarkable achievements of state and independent schools, teachers, and trusts that were celebrated  this evening are a powerful demonstration of the excellence and dedication driving UK education.”
