A cannabis factory with more than 600 plants has been discovered on Twickenham high street.
Local police uncovered the farm on 18 September after calls were made by contractors working near the address.
Between 600 and 700 plants were seized by police and were later taken away to be destroyed, Met Police have confirmed.
No suspects were present at the scene but the report remains under investigation as police continue to hunt for those responsible for the production of the class B substances.
Local residents who witnessed the scene were shocked at the scope of the operation.
One business owner said: “I watched the police confiscate the drugs, I’ve never seen anything on that kind of scale.”
Workers and residents have expressed concern over the proliferation of cannabis in Twickenham and worrying about the impact this will have on the community.
Twickenham resident Catherine Ibbs said: “It’s pretty shocking when it’s so close to home and on the high street, right under our noses.
“However it also, quite sadly, is not surprising as factories seem to be found anywhere.
“You smell weed being smoked so often on the street, it’s very worrying for our children growing up with this becoming the norm.”
Police also recovered three cats from the property, who have been successfully rehomed following a vet health assessment.
Met Police Officer, Kourosh Far, said: “This once again highlights the importance members of the public have in the involvement in tackling crime within the community, as crimes such as this need to be reported as and when suspicions arise.
“It makes all the difference to investigations and their respective outcomes.”
