An award-winning pet grooming business in Fulham will celebrate its birthday by offering furry customers free treats next week.

Bishops Bark, of Fulham Palace Road, will be two years old on July 27.

Owner Ryan Gottsche bagged the Best New Business award at the Hammersmith Fulham Brilliant Business Awards 2012 on July 9.

In celebration any canine visitors between July 27 and August 3 will receive free treats.

Ryan, 39, hopes the win will provide a business boost.

He said: “It has given us a big pat on the back for all our hard work.

“Having the public vote for us really means a lot to us and we are very, very grateful for their support.”

He has even received a gift from a former client in Japan to say congratulations.

Mr Gottsche has had his fair share of pampered clients in the past, including Henry the Schnauzer, who as well as weekly spa session visited at least three times a week for day care.

He adds that there are celebrity clients on the books, including news readers, TV presenters to supermodels.

But he added: “At Bishops Bark we don’t lick and tell.”

The business’ first major award recognises relationships forged with their clients over the last two years.

Bishops Bark was also nominated in the Best Customer Service and Favourite Business categories.

The business uses organic products and provides a dog food delivery service.

The awards were sponsored by the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle, with around 1,000 people voting.

Council Leader Nick Botterill, addressing nominees on July 9, said: “Without successful businesses we can’t have a successful civic society. We couldn’t manage without them.

“The council does appreciate business and we continue to fight for them.”

Other categories included Favourite Business, Best Customer Service, Best New Business, Best Business Supporter of the Community and Best Young Entrepreneur.
