WATCH: Tooting Community Kitchen aims to tackle poverty and create connection

Tooting Community Kitchen (TCK) is a charity on a mission to alleviate poverty in south west London by helping feed the homeless and those in need, leading it to be one of Wandsworth Mayor’s three chosen charities for 2024/25.

Founded in 2018, TCK gained registered charity status in 2020, growing exponentially and becoming a vital part of the community with around 50 volunteers who give up their time to help others.

The charity runs a wide variety of events each week including soup kitchens, open kitchens, sewing, knitting, drama, calligraphy and much more.

It also runs a food bank and collects food donations at open kitchens, with the aim of tackling hunger and preventing food waste.

Guests at the soup kitchen said TCK creates a welcoming, hospitable atmosphere where they really feel like they are part of a community, engaging in conversations or simply being around other people.
