South west London politicians react to Prime Minister’s snap election announcement

South west London MPs have been reacting to the shock announcement by Prime Minister Theresa May that elections will be held on June 8.

MPs from across the region have been giving their take, with all who have spoken so far confirming that they intend to stand for re-election.

Former cabinet minister Vince Cable announced his intention to stand again in Twickenham on LBC earlier today.

Mitcham and Morden MP Siobhain McDonagh responded to a supporter’s message, saying she was looking forward to the campaign.

 

Croydon South MP Steve Reed was at a meeting in the Department for Education when Theresa May announced her plans for the poll.
