A man has admitted hiding the body of a businesswoman in a lock-up garage in New Malden last year.

The body of Carole Waugh, a 50-year-old oil executive, was found last August, almost three months after her family had reported her missing.

Rakesh Bhayani, 41, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to concealing the death of Ms Waugh and hiding her body.

Bhayani and another man, Nicholas Kutner, 48, deny murder, and are due to go on trial in October.

The pair admit withdrawing cash from her bank accounts, taking out loans and using credit cards in her name.

Kutner has admitted a further three charges of fraud after pretending to be Ms Waugh’s brother to charge rent for her flat.

Bhayani’s wife Sheetal denies possessing criminal property, while three other women and a man have pleaded not guilty to fraud charges in connection with the case.

A seventh defendant, Derek Eastham, admits possessing counterfeit money but has denied fraud.

All the defendants will face a trial in October.

Tests found that Ms Waugh died from a stab wound. Originally from Durham, she had previously worked for an oil company in Libya. Her family last saw on her April 16 2012.
