Tragedy as crane operator dies on building site of Fulham luxury apartment complex

A crane operator has died at a luxury apartment block development in Fulham after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest in his cab 20m above the ground.

Firefighters were called to the construction site at 100 New King’s Road, Parsons Green, just after 10.30am to rescue the man who was taken ill.

An aerial hydraulic platform had to be used to rescue the man but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Every effort was made to resuscitate the patient at the scene, but despite the best efforts of the crew, a man died.”

The man was working on the construction site of 25 new private apartments and penthouses, as well as a separate retail unit, owned by property developer London Square.

Fire crews from three stations – Fulham, Chelsea and Paddington – attended the incident.
