Richmond Poppy Factory is celebrating its 100th birthday this year by putting on tours and history talks.
The charity has helped thousands of veterans into employment after serving in the military, and possesses a royal warrant to produce hand crafted wreaths for monarchs.
Established in 1926 by Major George Howson, millions of remembrance poppies were made here there each year, reaching it’s peak of over 30 million in 1933.
Former RAF pilot and current factory worker, Nicola Soakes, said: “My job is never the same.
“The community here is great, I’ve found some friends for life all thanks to the factory.”
Communications director, Dan Hodges, said: “We’re really proud of our history as a producer of wreaths and poppies, but fundamentally we’ve always been about employment support.”
