King Charles III set for afternoon of meetings after formal accession

After being officially made king during this morning’s Accession Council, King Charles III has a full set of engagements this afternoon.

The new monarch will be meeting various members of the parliament and members of the Church at Buckingham Palace

The afternoon events are as follows:

2pm: The king meets The Archbishop of Canterbury at Buckingham Palace.

2.30pm: The king meets the prime minister and other cabinet members at Buckingham Palace.

3pm: The king meets leaders of the opposition parties at Buckingham Palace.

4pm: The king meets the Dean of Westminster at Buckingham Palace.

All the meetings except the final one will be accessible to media.
