Love Wimbledon helped kick off the festive season in style last weekend with the biggest Christmas celebration the town has ever seen.

The all new Winter Wonderland received over ten thousand visitors who were entertained by a stage act from Britain’s Got Talent contestants ‘Flawless’, and treated to Christmas markets, children’s rides, street entertainment and a firework display.

Nathan Neo Gordon took to Twitter to say how successful the event had been, saying: “Had a dope show with the boys Flawless at the Wimbledon Winter Wonderland! Energy was high, vibe was sick, crowd were amazing!! Thanks to everyone who came out!”

The event offered something for all the family with a carousel, Christmas pudding bouncy castle and rodeo reindeer to keep children amused and performances from Merton Music Foundation, Rock Choir, New Wimbledon Theatre and Morden Primary School providing Christmas songs and fun activities for gatherers to enjoy.

A giant snow globe gave families a fantastic location to take festive photographs and a snow machine, walking fairies, dancing penguins and nine metre high Father Christmas added a huge amount of Christmas cheer and good feeling to Wimbledon.

“This was a fantastic event and we’re delighted at how well it was received,” said Love Wimbledon BID Manager Helen Clark Bell.

“Pedestrianising Wimbledon Broadway meant that we could provide a wider variety of entertainment for more people to enjoy. We work on behalf of the Wimbledon Businesses and we’re delighted that so many took part in Wimbledon Winter Wonderland.”

With a sensational dance finale from Flawless and a firework display lighting up the skies received with huge cheers from the crowd, Wimbledon town centre welcomed Christmas 2013 in spectacular style.
