Two Lambeth projects made the Local Government Chronicle awards shortlist this year.

Both Young Lambeth cooperative and the council’s campaigns and communications team were acknowledged for prizes.

Head of Media for Lambeth, Lawrence Conway, said: “This year’s awards attracted 640 entries from more than 80 organisations, so to make the shortlist is a significant achievement.”

The council’s campaigns and communications team are on the list to win Campaign of the Year.

They have won recognition for their coordination of the campaign that helped to save Clapham Fire Station in July 2013.

Clapham’s fire engines were the first to attend the helicopter crash at Vauxhall on 16 January 2013.

Young Lambeth cooperative is shortlisted in the innovation category for its cooperative approach to the commissioning of children’s services.

Mr Conway said this new approach is estimated to bring £9 million of council budget back to the community from March.

Winners will be announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel on March 12.
