Free taxi rides will be available for zone one commuters today to celebrate Santander’s new 123 Current Account.

The bright red Santander branded taxis will be giving commuters the rare treat of free travel for one day only to highlight themselves as the bank that gives back.

South West Londoners should look out for the money-saving cabs if around the Kensington & Chelsea area or if you are planning to move around Central London.

A South West London commuter said that taxis empty my wallet daily” and claimed a free taxi ride would lift his mood for the week.

Santander has not released details of how many to expect so there is no guarantee everyone will be catching a free ride.

With taxi fares often exceeding £10 a journey those who flag down the cabs could have more money left over for the pub come the end of the week.

Santander claims its current account will, like the free taxis, give something back to the customer, an image that most banks certainly don’t have in the current climate.

The branded taxis are part of a wider campaign involving TV, web adverts and billboards which will be visible throughout London.
