International garden designers are taking over the Wimbledon town piazza this weekend for a unique exhibition aimed at green fingers.

Artists and landscape gardeners from all parts of the world had flown in to present their work ranging from handmade jewellery and self-made clothes to natural wood trays and bird tables.

The organisers, De Natura, were hosting their Summer Edition event for the first time and will be back for their Autumn Edition in September.

Pawel of De Natura said: “Everything you see in this exhibition is created by artists, even the stalls we’re selling on.

“It was hard work I can tell you and I was up all night getting it all set up!”

Mr Chen, who is selling garden ornaments such as candles, mirrors and lanterns had come from Hong Kong to create awareness of his creations.

“In Hong Kong, the whole garden culture is very popular at the moment,” he said. “It comes from when we were under British sovereignty and there’s a desire to feel again some of that heritage.”

The clothes shop is run by the Italian small business Mamumble, whose pieces are predominantly composed by lines, circles and colours.

Lucia, from the Mamumble said: “We want the clothes we make to be like big puzzles, with each one being unique from the other.”

Rachel, one of the stall’s customers, was very happy with the display of products on offer.

She said: “Wimbledon is a fantastic place to host an exhibition like this because we love our gardens so much, although sometimes it’s hard to understand what the people here are saying they are very helpful!”
