Chiswick Book Festival announces Beatles-themed events at Chiswick Gardens

Chiswick Book Festival has announced its 18th festival will be Beatles-themed at Chiswick House Gardens, as it marks the 60th anniversary of the band filming there.

Multiple events will run from 10 to 14 September and will include talks from Beatles experts and a guided walk.

The guided Beatles tour by Guy Fairbank will walk people through the parts of the gardens where the rock band recorded videos for their songs Paperback Writer and Rain, at 2:30pm on the 10th.

Doors will open in the Garden Pavilion at Chiswick House & Gardens at 6pm on the 10th, where drinks, books and DVDs will be on sale.

The Pavilion will then host a discussion on the band called The Beatles: Film, Fame and Social Change at 7pm on the 10th.

Broadcaster Samira Ahmed will chair the discussion with Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn and Tony Palmer, author and director of the documentary series All You Need Is Love: The Story of Popular Music.

Torin Douglas, director of the Chiswick Book Festival, said: “The Festival’s Chiswick House evening is always a highlight for book lovers in west London and this year we are marking another notable cultural moment, featuring British writers and performers with global reputations.”

Alongside the Beatles-themed celebrations, there will be appearances from authors such as Jacqueline Wilson and Nick Clegg.

Xanthe Arvanitakis, director of Chiswick House & Gardens Trust said: “The Book Festival is a valued part of our diverse programme for our visitors and is instrumental in helping the Trust raise vital funds to keep these historic spaces free and open to the public all year round.

“We’re eagerly looking forward to the event and for another memorable evening in these beautiful spaces.”

Tickets go on general sale on Friday 3 July and more information on the festival can be found here
