London Scottish excited for fan day at final home game of the season

London Scottish F.C are looking to build their relationship with the local community at their Family and Friends Fun Day Out on Saturday April 7.

The Championship side have gone through several backroom changes over the last year and the club want to promote their new one club philosophy with family activities before and during their 3:00pm clash against Rotherham at Athletic Ground in Richmond.

The club’s new community manager Andrew Evans claimed that CEO Carson Russell and newly-appointed director of rugby Dave Morris were eager to create a better match day experience for the fans in the clubs 140th year.

Mr Evans said: “We want to put our stamp on the club and make the statement that this isn’t the same London Scottish as it was before, we are making our own way.”

He continued: “We are part of a one club philosophy and we want to get everybody around the club engaged in that.”

The Family and Friends Fun Day Out will include sports day activities, with team sponsor Aberdeen Standard Investments providing children with a free meal for taking part before the club’s junior teams form a guard of honour as the players take to the field.

There will also be a bucking bronco, bouncy castles, a half-time sack race and the Cairnhill passing cage for fans to test the speed of their passing against the club’s starting fifteen.

The Richmond-based club will be playing already-relegated Rotherham in their final home game, meaning London Scottish are guaranteed safety in the second tier.

Joe Luca-Smith, London Scottish first-team winger and digital media manager, said: “We need to see this season out, we have had a lot of changes at the club this year.

“It’s obviously been a little more disappointing then we thought it would be but we need to focus on our last three games and we want to end the season well.”

The winger is hopeful that the team can push for promotion next year after a tough season in which the club currently sit second from bottom, a drop from last year’s mid-table finish.

Mr Evans said: “It’s not for the play-off anymore but there is a feeling at the club that they should be playing for the fans so the players will be making a good account of themselves on Saturday, hopefully putting in some big tackles and scoring some tries.”
