WATCH: City of London dance group provides inclusive space for LGBT+ community

A ballroom and Latin dance group in the City of London is offering an inclusive space for members of the LGBT+ community.

The Pink Jukebox, which hosts biweekly classes and social sessions in ballroom and Latin dance, offers participants the opportunity to dance with any attendee of any gender.

The Pink Jukebox, based in the Bishopsgate Institute, was co-founded by Jacky Logan and Ralf Schiller in 1996.

Instructors refer to “leaders” and “followers” rather than to “men” and “women” when giving instructions, and participants are encouraged to regularly swap partners.

Attendees told South West Londoner that the Pink Jukebox provides them with an opportunity to learn new dances, to feel included, and to meet like-minded members of the LGBT+ community.
