With Spring just beginning and Summer around the corner, finding serene green spaces for a calm break from busy city life, reading a favourite novel or finding the perfect picnic date spot is essential.
Green spaces are a pivotal part of the British summer, offering a space to connect with the local community, hang out with friends or be mindful in a city where life doesn’t seem to stop.
Here are just three of the hundreds of available, free and public green spaces in South West London, which provide a moment of peace from the chaos of London.
The three spots explored are The Tropical Gardens of Battersea Park, with their beautifully maintained ponds, vast wildlife and intimate spots for tranquil sunbathing.
Secondly, there is King George’s Park in Wandsworth Town, which provides large plains for picnics, a kids’ play area and the small pond, home to ducks and swans amongst the magical ecosystem of willow and blossom.
Lastly, the York House Gardens in Twickenham, an intimate network of greenery, water and wilderness providing riverside benches to wind down, green planes for petanque or picnics and an array of natural floral displays which gleam in the rays.
