Father-to-be turned daredevil abseils 180ft St George’s Hospital building raising money for new equipment

A Balham father-to-be over-came his fear of heights to abseil down a 180ft building at St George’s Hospital in Tooting to help raise funds for hospital equipment earlier this month.

Chris Coghlan, 35, whose wife is due to give birth at St George’s in July, raised £600 in sponsorship which will help buy machinery including new baby medical equipment.

Despite confessing that he is not very good with heights, Mr Coghlan was keen to support the hospital.

“We have been really impressed by all the doctors and nurses and we just thought it would be a nice thing to do to try and show our support,” he said.

“If you’ve got an opportunity to help your local community then you should.”
