REVIEW: Leathley Farm shop and Café

Two friends and I woke up offensively early one recent weekend morning to attend Bradford Airport car boot sale.

After a few hours of rummaging and haggling, we rewarded ourselves with breakfast at the nearby Leathley Farm Shop and Café.

The shop has been open only a year but has already established popularity due to its impressive selection of homemade pastries, varied farm shop stock and extensive locally sourced café menu.

The shop can be found off the busy Harrogate Road, which is perhaps its only shortcoming as the main road leaves the shop’s location feeling vaguely reminiscent of a petrol station. However, beyond that is a stunning view of rolling hills and a lake, all of which can be taken in from their massive windows.

I ordered the avocado and eggs on sourdough which came with vine tomatoes. One friend went for the full English and a whopping hot chocolate complete with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, and crumbled Cadbury flake. And my second friend, who is vegan, went for mushrooms on toast and an oat milk latte.

All of the meats, produce and bread were locally sourced. The staff are well informed, and they also feature a highlight on their Instagram which lists the local supplier for all of their stock.

Leathley Farm Shop and Café (and their ginormous chocolate cruffins, a flaky pastry cupcake oozing with chocolate) is not to be missed!
