Craft breweries in London have resolved to endure the cost of living crisis affecting both consumers and independent businesses.
Tasting sessions hosted by Brewery Market, in Twickenham, is one of many ways to discover these premium beverages – whose brewers are reported to be dwindling.
The reports come as the government U-turned on tax hikes for English pubs last week, in light of industry protests and 100 breweries closing as of last January.
For Ale Hunters founder and beer judge Paul Davies, 62, the trend is hard to ignore, despite some success for various pubs he incorporates into his tours across the capital.
He said: “You look at emerging markets and they’re still growing quite strongly.
“Some of the breweries I visit readily on my events in London have much bigger growth in terms of volume than that.
“The scene has seen some shrinkage up ’till now, particularly after lockdown, so it’s great to hear that they’ll maybe be an about-face because a lot of them have struggled recently.”
Craft breweries are renowned for producing high quality beer, with a diverse range of flavours, using precise brewing techniques.
