Paper Moon London offers the height of elegance and exquisite Italian food – all within spitting distance of some of London’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
Directly across the river from the London Eye, around the corner from Downing Street and just down the road from Westminster Abbey, sits Paper Moon, which is worth seeking out entirely on its own merits.
Serving Italian cuisine that feels as authentic as if you were in the Milan branch of the chain, Paper Moon isn’t just an establishment oozing class, but it delivers where it counts, on the tastebuds.
The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and from the moment we were led to our table to the moment we left, I felt taken care of and it was clear the staff knew exactly what they were talking about.
Following our server’s advice, we started with the polpo, grilled octopus with a roasted potato mousse and the vitello tonnato a cold veal dish in a tuna sauce.
Both starters were excellent and complimented each other well. It was clear that seafood was a speciality of Paper Moon so I’m glad I was able to indulge in some.
Then we were onto the mains and I had homemade tagliatelle with a beef and veal bolognese sauce and my friend had the seafood paccheri, which came with squid, mussels and clams.
Both meals were both incredibly rich and very filling. Neither of us could claim we were shortchanged either with the amount of food in the portion or the quality of the meal provided.
There was an excellent wine selection on offer and given that we were eating seafood, we opted for a sauvignon which was a perfect accompaniment to our meal.
And of course, no three course meal is complete without a third course and the dessert we shared, a chocolate fondant, was every bit as good as the courses that came before it.
While the food certainly isn’t cheap, you get what you pay for. It’s definitely a premium offering, but the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and £30 for a main won’t necessarily break the bank.
Between the elegant ambience, delicious food and attentive staff, Paper Moon London comes strongly recommended for a special occasion.
