The British Kebab Awards celebrates best in industry

The British Kebab Awards sponsored by Just Eat took place Tuesday 27th of February at Park Plaza Hotel showcasing the best of this vibrant industry.

London’s most notable win went to Skewd Restaurant in Barnet.

They not only won Best Fine Dining Restaurant, but their chef Mazlum Demir won Chef of the Year.

Founder Ibrahim Dogus said: “This event is a testament to the hard work and dedication of those who contribute to making the UK’s kebab scene truly exceptional.”

The humble kebab is a British staple, it has transformed over the years from being considered a late-night unhealthy snack to now a family favourite.

Dogus’ strong commitment to promoting diversity and excellence in the culinary world led him to create the awards in 2013.

With over 20,000 kebab restaurants and takeaways in the UK, some might argue its well on its way to becoming Britain’s national dish.

The kebab industry is an integral part of the British food industry, contributing over £2.8 billion to the UK economy and employing over 200,000 people.

Director of Sales at Just Eat Leigh Phillipson said: “We would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists of this year’s British Kebab Awards.

“Despite the complex challenges restaurant businesses face, these awards recognise the resilient individuals who ensure this pioneering industry continues to thrive.”

Judges included James O’Brien, Nadhim Zahawi MP, Sharon Hodgson MP, Alison Thewlis MP, and many others who carefully chose the winners from the countless delectable and delicious offerings.
