WATCH: Southwest London jazz band performing for over 20 years built on more than just music

Jazz Mondays is a jazz band based in southwest London that was formed more than 20 years ago.

The group consists of eight saxophonists, a vocalist, a drummer and a pianist who share a passion for live jazz music and performing together.

The band performs twice a year at the George IV pub in Chiswick, alongside playing at other gigs and meets regularly throughout the year to rehearse, learn new pieces, and improve their performance skills.

Rehearsals also give members the opportunity to socialise and strengthen the close friendships that have developed within the group over the years.

Jazz Mondays have also performed at Ealing Jazz Festival, St Margaret’s Fair and The Crypt in St Martin-in-the-Fields, a well-known jazz venue.

Members say the group has remained together for so long because of the supportive and welcoming environment they have created.

Many describe the band as not only a musical group, but also a close-knit group where friendships and a shared love of jazz continue to keep the members together.
