National Rollercoaster Day is almost here and to celebrate, Merlin Entertainments has announced they will lower prices just for Sunday 16 August.
This promotion comes as a family day out deal and is well timed with the summer holidays and the Government’s Great British summer savings scheme.
The scheme, announced by ex-Chancellor Rachel Reeves, offers guests reduced VAT rates from 20% to 5% on admission tickets up until the 1 September.
The one day only announcements at Merlin theme parks include:
- Tickets for adults starting at £34.13
- Children under 0.9m get free entry into Chessington World of Adventures and LEGOLAND Windsor, while children under 1.2m go free at Thorpe Park, when accompanied by an adult.
- Tickets for students start at £22.75
The reduced pricing is tailored to attract families who want to enjoy a more affordable experience at Merlin Entertainments during a period of high living costs.
Three out of the four theme parks are in easy reach of southwest London.
Thorpe Park is roughly one hour from London Waterloo by train and visitors can go on rides like Saw and Nemesis Inferno.
Also home to the tallest coaster in the country Hyperia, billed as the world’s fastest rollercoaster which can launch from 0-80 mph in 1.8 seconds.
Chessington World of Adventures is around 35 minutes by direct train from London Waterloo station and features rides like the Jumanji Coaster and Mandrill Mayhem.
Families can also experience the first PAW Patrol Land, newly opened this year.

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is less than an hour from London Waterloo and is home to the UK’s first flying theatre, Flight of the Sky Lion.
To avoid missing out due to high demand, tickets should be booked in advance via each park’s official website – found below.
