Wood wants to keep that winning feeling as Streatham Redskins prepare for double header

Adam Wood wants Streatham Redskins to put the disappointing draw against the Wightlink Raiders behind them when hosting Invicta Dynamos and Oxford City Stars this weekend.

Redskins are on a seven-game unbeaten run and lead English National Hockey League South One ahead of their weekend double header.

Wood’s side face Invicta in the second leg of their cup tie on Saturday having lost the first leg 12-4, but despite the defeat he wants to put on a good showing.

“Our main priority at the moment is the league but obviously we want to put in a strong performance against Invicta,” said Wood.

“We are playing in front of the home crowd and we want to go out and win it for them.”

Redskins will then face Oxford City Stars in the league on Sunday having already beaten them 7-3 this season and Wood claims the team’s confidence is high following their good run.

“We put on a pretty strong performance against Oxford last time so we will want to replicate that,” he said.

“We are confident as long as we can carry on our good form of late. It will be tough but we want to take the full points.”

Wood does add that as the teams performances have significantly improved since the start of the season, expectations have increased among the players.

“Expectations are quite high and that’s obvious when we are quite disappointed with last week’s draw,” he said.

“I wasn’t sure how it was going to be at the start of the season but now we are expecting ourselves to win a lot of games and it’s a good time for us to be in that frame of mind.”
