Hundreds of people gathered in Orleans Gardens, Twickenham, for a colourful celebration of Ukrainian culture, heritage and community.
The Ukrainian Independence Day Festival brought traditional music, folk dancing, art and food to south-west London on Saturday, 5 September.
Organised by the Ukrainian Social Club Richmond and Hounslow, the open-air event gave Ukrainians in London a chance to celebrate their identity and share their traditions with the wider community.
Performers in traditional costumes entertained crowds with Ukrainian songs and dances, while stalls displayed artwork, handmade crafts and national colours. Visitors also sampled Ukrainian dishes and spoke to members of the local community.
One of the day’s most moving moments was the recognition of 88-year-old Robin Jowit OBE for his voluntary work supporting Ukrainian children. Alina Luts, the festival’s lead organiser and founder of the Ukrainian Social Club, honoured the former Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, while MP Ruth Cadbury attended to show her support for Ukraine.
