Padel participation has boomed in Britain as London hosted more than 20,000 fans at the first Premier Padel P1 held in the country at Kensington Olympia from 4-9 August.
The professional tournament saw Spain’s Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernández crowned women’s champions, with 18-year-old Calvo becoming the youngest player ever to win a Premier Padel title.
Spain’s Arturo Coello and Argentina’s Agustín Tapia took the men’s trophy.
The tournament comes as the sport reaches a new milestone in Britain.
LTA figures show one million adults and juniors now play padel across Great Britain, with 1,825 courts at 551 venues.
That surge is also being felt closer to home.
At PadelHub in Epsom, players of different ages and abilities are taking to the courts, reflecting the sport’s growing appeal beyond the professional game.
From packed stands at Olympia to busy courts in Epsom, padel is becoming an increasingly familiar part of Britain’s sporting landscape.
