WATCH: The Gold Coast Bar and Restaurant hosts the diaspora on the eve of England vs Ghana

On the eve of England’s game versus Ghana in the 2026 World cup, members of London’s Ghanaian diaspora have been left to decide where their allegiances lie.

The Gold Coast Bar and Restaurant in Croydon hosted a watch party, where Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians alike came together to root for the Black Stars.

London houses the highest percentage of Ghanaians in the UK, with Croydon being one of the diaspora’s most populous areas. The Gold Coast has been open since 2004, and has previously hosted World Cup watch parties for Ghana, such as the 2006 tournament in Germany where the nation reached the round of 16.
