LISTEN: Loans inquiry finds students were misinformed – but what do they think?

The Student Loan Inquiry has found that many students did not fully understand the terms of their student loans in full.

The inquiry, which is being lead by the treasury committee and began last month. Is aiming to assess if the current system is actually fair.

With the Plan 2 loan, which applies to students who started between 2012 and 2022, coming under particular scrutiny for its high interest rates.

Furthermore, increasing university fees and an all-time competitive graduate job market has left many students feeling disillusioned by the higher education as a whole.

Oscar Stevens spoke to students at University College London to find out their thoughts on their debt and the findings from the inquiry so far.
