In December last year, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) added the Swiss Yodel to its 2025 Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
The list features global traditions that the UN believe should be protected to maintain cultural diversity in an age of globalisation.
Yodelling has gained worldwide recognition as a result of its uniquely recognisable singing technique.
However, the announcement separates the Swiss Yodel from yodelling practices in other Alpine regions.
The Southwest Londoner spoke to British yodeller Yodellyne and Max Cartier, a Swiss musician living in Clapham, about what they hope this UN recognition means for both yodelling and Swiss creatives in general.
