The Great Get Together held its annual nationwide celebration on 21 June.
The event was set up by the Jo Cox Foundation, in memory of the MP who was asasinated in June 2016.
The event celebrates tolerance, and in particular, Cox’s famous statement that we have more in common than divides us.
In this spirit of unity, community groups from across London were invited to perform and cheer each other on at the outdoor Bankside venue.
The acts range from London choirs, Beat Boxers and Irish dance group, Jig and a Swig.
Political violence in the UK has risen in the last 10 years since Cox’s murder.
Since the 2024 general election, 73% of councillors reported allegations of abuse and intimidation, as 49% of those surveyed said the abuse has increased in the last 12 months.
Jo Cox Foundation CEO Will Fletcher said: “We believe everyone should be able to get involved in our political discourse.
“People are becoming less willing to accept and engage in good faith with views that aren’t their own and that’s something that we really need to tackle.”
The Great Get Together honours Cox’ legacy by demonstrating hatred has no place in communities as well as politics.
