As rough sleeping in London hits record highs, one social enterprise is offering a different way to see the city, through the eyes of people who’ve experienced homelessness.
Unseen Tours trains and employs formerly homeless or vulnerably housed Londoners to lead guided walking tours through the capital.
The idea is to provide paid work, boost confidence, and challenge public perceptions of homelessness.
Last year, more than 13,000 people were recorded sleeping rough in the capital, a 10% rise on the previous year, and a 63% increase since 2016.
But on the streets of Borough, Shoreditch, Southwark and beyond, Unseen Tours guides are reframing the story, sharing not just local history, but their own.
