An entrepreneur has created a language card game to help combat the UK’s declining levels of foreign language learning.
Folkestone-based entrepreneur Olive Halsall, 29, created the card game Private Joke in the hopes of showing people that languages can be about more than just getting an exam result.
Private Joke is about inventing new words for concepts, some of which already exist as a word in a foreign language, and the winner is the player whose word is voted the most creative, funny or linguistically smart.
Olive Halsall said: “I think so many British kids struggle with speaking in a foreign language. It shows them that so much of learning a language is just fun and meeting new people.”
