Fulham put four past Bolton to enhance Kit Symons chances of becoming the Cottagers’ new manager

Fulham 4 – 0 Bolton Wanderers

Kit Symons was in a buoyant mood after watching Fulham put four goals past Bolton Wanderers.

Hugo Rodallega opened the scoring for Fulham in the ninth minute before Fernando Amorebieta doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Lasse Christensen added a third in the 67th minute before Tim Hoogland scored 11 minutes from time to wrap up a thumping win for the Cottagers.

The caretaker boss praised Fulham’s performance and said: “I was delighted tonight because of some of the great football, but even more so with the defensive display. We looked really solid as a unit, as a team.

“We know we’ve got good attacking players but you need that solid base. If you combine the two, you’ve got a chance.”

Whilst Fulham chairman Shahid Khan has assembled a five-man panel to help him choose the club’s next manager Symons has been going quietly about his business and this result won’t do his prospects of becoming the next manager any harm.

Symons said “When I took over in I tried to galvanise the club and get everyone pulling together, and to start winning games, and on both counts it’s going pretty well so far.

“It’s a great feeling hearing the fans sing my name. I’ve had stadiums booing me before, when I played, so it’s nice to have one cheering me now.”

Although pleased with his work so far he insisted there is plenty of work to do: “We’re still down at the wrong end of the table and we need to work our way up, but I said to the players that the problem they’ve got now is those are the standards they’ve set themselves, and my job now is to make sure they maintain those.”
