Why bingo has found new life with millennials

Modern day Bingo has been around for almost a hundred years.

Well, at least regarding American bingo. It’s a gambling game that many people have played at least once in their lives.

In the past, bingo used to be an activity that was on par with going to the pub with the lads, especially considering that the percentage of women playing the game compared to men is higher.

Men visit a place where they can talk over a drink or two while women prefer quieter places.

Bingo is highly specific in this regard because it’s a low-risk gambling game where you can play it in silence and have a few chats with the people around you.

It used to bring people together and many friendships were born while playing bingo.

But certain people think that bingo is far too old to be considered fun and interesting. After all, it’s almost a hundred years old! So what’s the truth?

Bingo nowadays

While the game itself has gone through certain changes and, one would argue, this trend could continue, on first glance, it appears that it’s no longer as popular as it used to be.

First looks can be deceiving and, even though it’s not played in land-based bingo places, it’s still fairly popular.

An interesting survey was conducted in 2014 where it was found that 8% of the female demographic surveyed were aged 18-24.

Compared to them, 9% consisted of females from the ages of 60-75. It’s safe to say that the demographic has shifted towards the millennials.

The male side has also changed but not as dramatically as the female side with 5% of the males surveyed being 18-24.

It seems that the game itself has become more popular with younger people, which wasn’t the case during previous years.

One can attribute these changes to the birth of online bingo as people can play bingo in the comforts of their home or while on the move through their phones.

Promotions also help pull people in so it’s completely understandable that this change has happened. After all, most seniors don’t have the required knowledge of the Internet and computers while the Millennials were basically born into them.

Also, it’s easier than ever to connect your credit card to an online bingo website and make bets.

It might be an interesting game to some Millennials but there’s no doubt that it will fall out of favour if the game doesn’t change drastically.

It simply doesn’t have the same appeal to Millennials as other, action-pumped games do such as Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Dota 2 or League of Legends, and others.

However, for the time being, bingo’s survival is guaranteed, mostly because people still love playing it and also the fact that it’s a fairly low-risk gambling game which means that they aren’t afraid to place bets.
