WORLD Cup winner Josh Lewsey will rekindle his partnership with Kenny Logan later this year after both agreed to take part in the ‘Heroes Rugby Challenge’ at Twickenham on December 3.

The 34-year-old, who was part of England’s World Cup-winning team in 2003, played with Scottish wing Logan at Wasps with the two set to link up again as part of a Northern Hemisphere XV at Rugby HQ.

Lewsey is one of three World Cup winners in the Northern Hemisphere team with Will Greenwood and Danny Grewcock also set to face an equally as impressive Southern Hemisphere XV.

Both sides will boast talent from the Armed Forces with the purpose of the clash to help raise money for charity Help for Heroes, which provides practical support for wounded servicemen and women.

And British & Irish Lion Lewsey, who briefly came out of retirement to play for Wasps last season, admitted he is relishing the chance to take to Twickenham for such an occasion.

“Help for Heroes is a charity very close to my heart so I didn’t have to think too long when I was asked if would lace up my boots again,” said Lewsey.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be part of the Northern Hemisphere side and really looking forward to being back at HQ again.

“The Heroes Rugby Challenge is a great opportunity to see some of the best rugby players in the world in action.

“But it’s also an opportunity for rugby fans to come together and show their support for the brave servicemen and women who serve our country in areas of conflict.”

The first Help for Heroes match in 2008 attracted a crowd of 52,000 and helped raise £1.46million – and Logan wants this year’s clash to be even bigger and better.

“The aim of the Heroes Rugby Challenge is simple – to pack out Twickenham and raise more than £1million for Help for Heroes in the process,” said Logan – who won 70 caps for Scotland.

“To achieve this, we need the public to really get behind this game and show their support by buying a ticket and encouraging everyone they know to do the same.”

Heroes Rugby Challenge, Saturday 3 December 2011 at Twickenham Stadium, kicks off at 1630. Ticket prices start at £30 for adults and are available through Ticketmaster www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0844 847 2492
