Park Brewery on the rise with big plans for the future

The brains behind a popular Kingston brewery have grand plans to continue expanding their thriving business, with a new premises on the horizon.

Nestled in a borough with 500 years of brewing history, The Park Brewery started in the home of husband-and-wife team Josh and Frankie Kearns in 2014 before a successful bar trial moved them into their current home on the edge of Richmond Park.

Since then the business has continued growing and has just finished a successful crowdfunding campaign to fund expansion, hitting 155% of the target with 11 days to go and readjusting their aim to £300,000.

“We started on a one-barrel kit then moved to four which brews about 640L of beer, we’ve been on that ever since but we couldn’t make it fast enough,” Frankie said.

“We decided to crowdfund because we felt we had a good story to tell and that our community gave us a lot of support.”

Now this home-grown beer maker is on the move to a bigger Kingston premises which will see them take on staff and install a tap room for on-site tasting.

“We’ve been looking for years for an industrial unit in Kingston,” said Frankie.

“They’re like gold dust.”

As the lone brewery in Kingston this company is involved in the community and they hold open days to bring people together to socialise and support the company.

“We want to put Kingston firmly on the London brewery map and make our local community proud,” said Josh.

Taking inspiration from Richmond Park all the beers are named after the various historic and eclectic names found within it.

“There’s the most random things that have built up over the hundreds of years of the park,” said Frankie.

“Like Killcat, a road in the park which is called that for no apparent reason, but it works.”

The company joined forced with Friends of Richmond Park this year and has launched a special beer named after the charity’s Tread Lightly campaign.

The conservation campaign was documented in a film by David Attenborough last year and aims at encouraging people to respect the park and not leave any marks on it.
